You run the business. I’ll handle thetechnology.

Hi, I’m Joey. I work with a handful of businesses and quietly own the technology side, from the little broken things up to the systems your business runs on. It’s handled, and it stops being yours to worry about.

You already know the list of stuff that never gets fixed.

The broken little things, the aging big things, the workarounds everyone’s stopped noticing. None of it needs a heroic fix. It needs an owner.

  • Look professional

Everybody's email signature is different, and half of them are broken.

It shows up on every email your company sends. Mismatched or broken signatures look sloppy, and nobody was ever put in charge of them.

I'll build a tool that makes them for everyone.

  • Save hours

You're entering the same order into four different systems.

Every retyped order is a chance for a mistake, and the hours add up every week. Usually one connection between the systems fixes it.

I'll connect them so you enter it once.

  • Win trust

Your site's five years old and you're a little embarrassed by it.

It's the first thing a new customer checks. If it's dated, slow or broken in places, they trust you less before they ever call.

I'll rebuild it properly and keep it that way.

  • Reuse your work

You rebuild the same presentation from scratch every single time.

Every proposal starts from a blank slide, so decks drift off-brand and each one takes an afternoon. A template keeps the structure, so only the content changes.

I'll set up templates so every new deck starts most of the way done.

  • Reach the inbox

People keep telling you they never got your email.

Email that lands in spam costs you work you never hear about. The cause is usually a few missing settings on your domain, not anything you wrote.

I'll fix the setup so your email arrives.

  • Automate wisely

You know you should be doing something with AI and have no idea what.

A lot of what you're pitched is hype with a monthly fee, but a few parts of your work can be automated today.

I'll find the few things worth automating and leave the rest.

  • Reduce risk

Your inventory lives in a spreadsheet only one person understands.

When that person is out, nobody can find anything. The file has one owner, no history and no backup.

I'll move it somewhere that keeps working while they're on vacation.

  • Plain answers

Something's slow, something's broken, and nobody's sure what.

Errors and slow pages usually come from a handful of fixable causes stacked together. It rarely takes a rebuild.

I'll find it, fix it and tell you why in plain English.

  • …what’s on your version of the list?

or give any card a thumbs-up. It rides along too.

Who’s in charge of your technology right now?

If the answer is nobody, or sort of everyone, that’s the job I do. I’m the person who owns your technology, not a help desk and not a dev shop that hands back a project and leaves. I build what’s missing, smooth out how the work runs and set the technical direction: roadmap, vendors, data, all of it.

In whatever shape you need:

Part of your team

I work alongside the people and vendors you already have, with plenty of experience and no ego about it.

Leading your team

I set the direction and bring in people I trust when the work needs more than one person.

The whole department

One engineer who owns all of it. For most businesses, that's enough.

Businesses that have trusted me with this.

launch day isn’t the day I leave

How I work

I don’t ship and disappear. When I take something on, I own it and write it down, so your team owns it too. Every platform I run has a full operations handbook.

Why me, specifically

An engineer who makes problems disappear.

build it, own it, write it down, repeat

I’ve been building for the web since 2007: websites, the servers they run on, search and everything that connects them. I build what I recommend, so I can carry a problem from the first conversation to the fix. That’s hard to get from someone who consults. Mostly, I’m the person who notices the thing everyone’s tired of dealing with and makes it go away.

When I’m not running someone else’s platform, I’m working on my own: Vardo, which runs the apps I host, Pouch, which sends their email, and Scope, the time tracking and invoicing app I’m building for my own work.

I work with a small number of businesses on purpose, so each one gets me and not a ticket in a queue.

Based in Portland, Oregon. I work with people anywhere.

Tell me about the thing you keep meaning to fix.
